Family raise money for Port Isaac RNLI following dog rescue
On 31 March a family and their young spaniel, Bugsy were walking along the coastal footpath approaching Port Isaac when he wriggled through a hole in a dilapidated gate and fell into the water.
Port Isaac RNLI was tasked to the scene and Bugsy was quickly spotted by volunteer crewman George Cleave. Bugsy had managed to scramble onto rocks in a cave. He was safely recovered and returned to extremely grateful owners who pledged to raise money for the charity as a way of expressing their thanks.
They did just that and Lee Davies, Mark Coles and Cath Davies did the RNLI H20 challenge. This involves No tea. No coffee. No fizzy drinks. No wine. No beer. No orange juice. Just water for 10 tough days. They completed the challenge and raised a fantastic £800 which has been donated to the stations newly launched lifeboat appeal to raise £52,000 to buy a new D-Class lifeboat.Lee Davies says “the money is to say a massive thanks for rescuing Bugsy earlier this year. As you can imagine we are forever grateful.”
