Beaumaris Lifeboat and a Coastguard team in search for a boat reported adrift.
Acting on a report received that a small fishing boat was adrift in the Menai Straits the U.K Coastguard at Holyhead requested the Beaumaris Lifeboat to launch to investigate.
At 12.58 pm the pagers of the volunteer crew for the Beaumaris Inshore Atlantic 85 Lifeboat Annette Mary Liddington sounded and the lifeboat launched at 1.12 pm, once afloat the lifeboat proceeded to commence a search between Beaumaris and Menai Bridge..
Unlike the service launch on the fourth of December for a missing kayaker the visibility was good however the lifeboat still attracted the attention of some seals swimming in the area.
A fishing vessel was located near Gallows Point by Beaumaris which matched the description of the vessel reported adrift.
However when approached the two crew aboard stated they were fishing and did not require any assistance. To ensure that no other boat was in difficulty the Beaumaris Lifeboat continued to search as far as the Britannia Bridge.
As well as the lifeboat the Bangor Coastguard Rescue team conducted a shoreline search of the area.
On completion of this search pattern the U.K.Coastguard at Holyhead stood down both the lifeboat and the Coastguard Rescue team as it was believed that the call which had been made with good intent related to the fishing boat approached by the lifeboat near Gallows Point.
