Aldeburgh RNLI lifeboat tasked after a report of people in distress

At 4.10am on Saturday 27 August the UK Coastguard requested the launch of the lifeboat after a call about people's shouts for help.

The ILB was launched into the river to assist Aldeburgh and Shingle Street Coastguard in a search of the river banks.

The report had stated that two people were sinking in the mud. A police helicopter was also in attendance. The volunteer lifeboat crew searched both sides of the river from Brick Dock to Aldeburgh Yacht Club, however no persons were located.

The ILB was stood down at 6.25am and was back on station at 6.40am.
