Arklow Lifeboat Towing Stricken Vessel Safely Home

Arklow's all-weather lifeboat was on scene just outside Arklow Harbour a short time later, In the meantime, Courtown Sea Safari Vessel Stitches which had been conducting boat trips as part of the Maritime Festival had taken the casualty vessel on tow to prevent it drifting closer to shore. The towline was then transferred to Arklow's lifeboat which then towed the 7m yacht and its crew of two back into Arklow Harbour.

Following the incident, Mark Corcoran, Arklow RNLI Community Safety Officer said: 'Thanks to Ian and the crew of Stitches for their assistance in this rescue. Thanks also to the passengers and lifeboat supporters who were mid trip, who got to see first hand our volunteers at work, rescuing and bringing this stricken vessel safely back into port.'
