The money raised was shared between four nominated charities; St Bees RNLI, Wasdale Mountain Rescue, The Great North Air Ambulance and Cancer Research. Ladies Captain, June Hardisty, said: ‘The charities were chosen to celebrate our local emergency services.'

The money was raised in various ways including a fashion show, a Beatles night, a gentleman’s social evening, golf competitions and a Heineken day. There was also a variety of raffles including an Easter Egg Raffle selling Easter Chicks kindly knitted by Sue Thompson.

Dick Beddows, St Bees lifeboat Operations Manager, said; ‘Well done and thank you to everyone at Whitehaven Golf Club, particularly the club captains. Raising such a large sum for St Bees lifeboat will help keep our volunteers fully equipped helping them to save lives at sea.’
