Cromer RNLI lifeboat 'Lester' launched to assist fishing boat
Cromer volunteer lifeboat crew launched late this morning (Wednesday 12 April) after a lone crew member aboard a fishing vessel called the UK Coastguard to report they had suffered engine problems.
A local fishing boat, the Rory James, requested the launch of RNLI Cromer's all- weather lifeboat Lester. With only one member of crew on board the fishing boat, with a moderate sea and winds blowing at Force 3 in a westerly direction, help was needed.
Soon Cromer's lifeboat was heading the three and a half miles off Trimingham to give support and advice and assist them in returning to Cromer.
John Davies, RNLI Coxswain for Cromer’s RNLI lifeboat, said: ‘Being a local fisherman and knowing others who fish in local waters, I was pleased to be able to respond so quickly on behalf of the RNLI.’
By 12.25pm Lester had returned to the main boathouse and was made ready for its next launch.
