Almost 12 hours start to finish for Padstow RNLI lifeboat crew on Saturday night

Lifeboats News Release

Volunteer lifeboat crew launched at 8.31pm on Saturday night (3 September) to assist a yacht with electronics failure, 30 miles North-northwest of Trevose Head.

The crew reached the yacht and established a tow. With the tide too low to go into Padstow Harbour the yacht was towed back to the lifeboat station and moored just off the station at 3am.
 
The crew returned to the station for some well-deserved refreshments and rest, and launched again at 6am. The volunteer crew escorted the yacht safely into Padstow Harbour and were back at the lifeboat station at 7.40am.
 
Coxswain Alan Tarby said ‘The crew did a fantastic job; it was a very long shout and I’m glad we could be of assistance’

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts.
