Former crew member's marathon donation
Gary Griffiths, a former crew member, recently made a donation of over £3,600 to Burry Port RNLI.
Earlier in the year, Gary, who is now a professional singer, organised a 'Marathon' Concert at Saint Illtyd's Church in Pembrey, and then in April, ran in the London Marathon, completing the course in a respectable time of 4hrs and 38mins.
Last week he visited Burry Port RNLI boathouse and handed over a cheque for over £3,600, raised from the Concert and sponsorship from his marathon run.
The cheque was presented to Burry Port RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager, Roger Bowen, with shore crew member Mal O'Connell, Len Cross, Management Group Adviser and retired crew member and Lifeboat Chairman Trevor Griffiths, who is Gary's father.
Roger Bowen said: 'I'd like to offer a big thanks from all the team at Burry Port RNLI for all Gary's efforts and hard work.
'The RNLI charity's 24/7 search and rescue operation is almost entirely funded by donations, so efforts like Gary's are vital in helping us save more lives at sea.'
