Skerries RNLI respond to reports of flares off Balbriggan
Skerries RNLI responded this evening (November 27) after Dublin Coast Guard received calls reporting flares in the vicinity of Balbriggan harbour.
Skerries RNLI volunteers launched the lifeboat with Emma Wilson at the Helm and crewed by Conor Walsh, David Knight and Laura Boylan.
The lifeboat made it’s way directly to Balbriggan and carried out a search of the area before continuing the search further north as far as the river nanny.
There was no sign of anyone in difficulty and the lifeboat was stood down and returned to the station.
Skerries RNLI Coast Guard and Rescue Helicopter R116 were also searching the area.
Speaking after the call out, Eoin McCarthy, Deputy Launching Authority for Skerries RNLI said: ‘Our volunteer crew are always ready to respond to a call for help. Even though there was nothing found in this instance, we would always encourage people to dial 999 and ask for the Coast Guard if they see someone in need of assistance.’
