Beaumaris Lifeboat asked to investigate a report of a capsized sailing vessel.

Lifeboats News Release

At the request of H. M Coastguard the volunteer crew members of the RNLI lifeboat were paged at 1.44 pm on Sunday 29 May 2016 with a request they attend the scene to ascertain the situation aboard the boat which was reported not to be righting herself.

The Atlantic 85 Inshore Lifeboat Annette Mary Liddington was launched at 1.54 pm to go to the incident .Upon arrival in the area near Penmaenmawr the lifeboat with assistance from a mobile Coastguard team from Bangor commenced a search of the area. One sailing vessel was located and when approached the crew aboard confirmed they had capsized earlier whilst it was probably this craft that the shore based observer had seen, the search was continued to ensure this was indeed the case.

Nothing was found and at 2.43 pm permission was received from H.M.Coastguard at Holyhead to discontinue the search and return to the lifeboat station.

The lifeboat arrived back at the boathouse at 3.12 pm and was refuelled and ready for further service by 4.15 pm.
