Yorkshire terrier rescued by RNLI Moelfre crew after dramatic 30ft cliff fall.

Moelfre’s volunteer crew rescued the pet dog around 10.30am on Sunday morning after it took a 30ft plunge off cliffs near Lligwy beach on Anglesey
The Moelfre all-weather lifeboat Kiwi and its volunteer crew of seven were tasked mid-morning to locate the dog and its owners, along with other concerned passers-by who were considering a plan of self-rescue. Fortunately the lifeboat was on scene within four minutes and located the owners on the cliff top. Using binoculars the small Yorkshire terrier was soon found and rescued from the water.
Moelfre RNLI volunteer Coxswain Nigel Musgrave said:
“We could see the owner waving and pointing to the location of the dog from the cliff top. We had to shout to get them to move back as they themselves were in danger. Thankfully they were very cooperating and let us carry out a successful rescue. We used the Y-Boat (inflatable lifeboat stored in the stern of the all-weather lifeboat) to get under the cliffs, where the crew found the dog, helped it aboard and reunited it with its owners on the beach.
'We urge anyone in this situation to call the coastguard at the earliest opportunity. Please don’t put yourself in danger by entering the water or scaling cliffs to rescue your pets.'
Once reunited with its owners, the Yorkshire terrier was taken to the vets as a precaution after its fall but appeared to be fit and well and happy to be back on dry land.
