Abersoch RNLI find missing windsurfer safe and well

Lifeboats News Release

At 2.40pm on Bank Holiday Monday (2 May) Abersoch RNLI launched their inshore lifeboat at the request of Holyhead Coastguard to search for a missing windsurfer in the area between Quarry Beach, Llanbedrog and St Tudwal’s Island east.

Just as The Peter and Ann Setten lifeboat was in the process of launching, additional information was received, namely that there was a small group of windsurfers close to the Warren Beach approximately two miles north east of the station.

In a strength four, south-westerly wind, the Atlantic 85 class lifeboay with its four man volunteer crew was on scene in minutes. They were informed by the windsurfers that one man from their group had been missing for an hour but that he had gone ashore at the north-eastern end of the Warren Beach.

After the Abersoch RNLI volunteers checked that the information given was accurate, and saw that the potential casualty was safe and well, they returned to station at 3.05pm.
