Sheerness RNLI lifeboat assists in search after reports of a missing person
The Sheerness inshore lifeboat (ILB) was called to assist coastguard teams in the hunt for a reported missing person in the Medway estuary with nothing untoward found and about to return to station the crew were immediately called to another job.
The Sheerness RNLI ILB Eleanor was called at 2pm on Tuesday 28 June to assist in a search for a reported missing person in West Swale, Coastguard Rescue helicopter 163 and Coastguard teams ashore were also searching.
The ILB searched up Milton Creek, as far as the tidal conditions would allow, before searching the Swale around Fowley Island.
With nothing untoward found the ILB was released at 3pm but was then immediately re-tasked minutes later to assist the 30ft Motor Cruiser Deben Lady with four people onboard, broken down and at anchor near North Kent buoy, Sheerness Harbour.The ILB towed the casualty to the safety of Queenborough all tide landing. ILB returned to station at 1630
