Porthdinllaen Lifeboat tows stricken yacht to safety.

Porthdinllaen RNLI lifeboat was requested to launch to a broken down yacht off Porthysgaden on Saturday evening.

The lifeboat was launched after the 25 foot yacht called the 'Barra' with two persons on board, had contacted the Coastguard at Holyhead that they had suffered mechanical failure.
 
The lifeboat and its volunteer crew launched at 5:25pm and was alongside the casualty within twenty minutes. A tow line was secured to the yacht and the decision was made to tow the craft the five miles back to Porthdinllaenb Harbour.
 
On arrival she was placed on a mooring within the bay and the two sailors on board were taken ashore to the lifeboat station. The lifeboat was refuelled and ready for service by 6:50pm.
 
Ken Fitzpatrick, Lifeboat Operations Manager at Porthdinllaen added: 'The crew of the 'Barra' were extremely unfortunate, they suffered a problem with their fuel and with no wind and the tide against the, they were unable to use their sails to reach the safety of Porthdinllaen Harbour. They were in no immediate danger and were glad of the assistance given by our crew.'
