Conwy RNLI lifeboat launched to assist a 27ft sailing vessel
Conwy RNLI volunteer crew were paged by HM Coastguard at 2.20pm on Thursday (21 July) to assist a 27ft yacht which had suffered engine failure following a day of racing.
Once on scene, another vessel which had been standing by the yacht was able to pin point the location of the yacht. A lifeboat crew member was able to safely board the yacht and assist the skipper and his two crew in lowering their sails and commenced rigging up a tow. After a short period, a long tow was set up for the passage back into Conwy against the strong, outgoing spring tide.
The lifeboat safely escorted the yacht safely back to her swinging mooring outside Deganwy Quay.
The lifeboat arrived back on station at 3.32pm, where she was recovered, refuelled and made ready for service.
This service call is the second in as many days.
