Prince Charles visits the volunteers at Port Isaac RNLI
Volunteers at Port Isaac RNLI were visited by Prince Charles today (Tuesday 19 July) who commended them on the work they do.
Prince Charles was greeted by crowds on the harbour front and was treated to some live music from Fisherman’s Friends before arriving at the lifeboat station at around 10:30am.
The volunteer crew of Port Isaac were introduced to the Duke of Cornwall and told him about the lifesaving work they carry out on the coast.
Chris Bolton, Lifeboat Operations Manager at Port Isaac RNLI, said:
‘It was a very relaxed and informal meeting with Prince Charles. He was really interested in the work of the RNLI. It was great he came to Port Isaac to meet the crew and fundraisers.’
Bob Bulgin, Chair of Port Isaac RNLI, presented Prince Charles with a personalised copy of his new book, The Illustrated History of Port Isaac Lifeboat Station, which was co-edited by Nicholas Leach.
He said: ‘It was a great honour that the Prince came to see us at the station. It is 28 years since we had our last royal visitor. It was a great pleasure to present the book to him; it is the culmination of a years’ work and a great way to thank the community and everyone who helped to fund the book. All money raised from the book sales will go to Port Isaac RNLI.’
