A busy weekend for Trearddur Bay lifeboat
Trearddur Bay RNLI had a busy weekend with pagers going off four times, twice on Saturday and twice again on Sunday.
On Saturday the volunteer crew were alerted by the coastguard after reports came in that people in an inflatable kayak were missing in heavy fog near Rhosneigr. However ten minutes after launching both lifeboats the crews were stood down with the missing people having been found.
Shortly after returning to shore the crews were once again tasked by the coastguard to reports of cries for help between Porth Dafarch and South Stack. A holiday maker had been walking along the headland and heard someone shouting from the direction of the sea which was still enveloped in heavy fog. The RNLI volunteers located a diving vessel and the divers confirmed that they had been shouting after surfacing and being unable to see their dive boat.
On Sunday a Mayday was received from a boat that was taking on water and had lost power, arriving on scene the lifeboat crew took a pump on board cleared the water and towed the vessel back to Rhosneigr.
Returning to Trearddur Bay the RNLI lifeboat was just in the process of being recovered from the water when another immediate alert came from the coastguard and the lifeboat was sent to escort a 40ft cabin cruiser back to the bay suffering from engine problems.
