Harwich RNLI responds to person in the water
Harwich RNLI All Weather Lifeboat (ALB) launched on Tuesday afternoon, 12 July, following reports of a person in the water at Shotley.
As the lifeboat was approaching Shotley Marina, a nearby yacht signalled that they had rescued the person from the water.
The lifeboat was quickly repositioned to allow a transfer of the casualty to take place. A casualty care assessment of the individual was carried out while the lifeboat returned to station.
Following further monitoring and warming of the casualty, a handover took place with East of England Ambulance Service paramedics for further care.
Holbrook Coastguard Rescue Team was also tasked to the incident following one of their own team initially raising the alarm.
Reflecting on the call out, Harwich RNLI Coxswain Neal Sandquest said: 'It was great team work all round today. The action of the first informant in raising the alarm, the occupants of the yacht pulling the person out of the water, the work of my own crew, and the quick response from East of England Ambulance Service, all led to a positive outcome.'
