Staithes and Runswick RNLI help fishing coble following flare alert

Lifeboats News Release

A red flare fired from a coble led to a safe return to Staithes for a local fisherman in trouble at sea on Sunday evening (3 July).

The skipper of the coble True Love was working pots half a mile off-shore when a line became entangled with his propeller.

The flare was spotted by members of the public on the Staithes sea front and the Staithes and Runswick RNLI lifeboat Pride of Leicester was launched to help free the rope and escort True Love back to harbour.
