Beach Café donates £1,000 to St Bees Lifeboat.

Last week Hartleys Tearooms and Beach café handed over a cheque for £1,000 to St Bees RNLI Guild.

The staff at Hartleys tearooms are great supporters of the RNLI and the café is frequently used by some of the crew. This was part of a regular donation from money raised selling second hand books in the café.

Receiving the cheque were Joyce Ashley, Christine Wrigley & Maria Thurlwell. Joyce & Christine recently received their Gold Bar & Maria received her Gold Badge. These RNLI awards are all in recognition of their service

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts. The RNLI operates 238 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland and more than 240 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK and Channel Islands. The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and government and depends on voluntary donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, its lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 146,000 lives.
