Dungeness RNLI lifeboat in missing swimmer search

Dungeness RNLI lifeboat, The Morrell, tasked in multi agency search for missing swimmer off Camber Sands.

At 10.12am on Sunday 28 August 2016, Dungeness RNLI lifeboat and her volunteer crew were tasked by Dover Coastguard amid reports of a swimmer in difficulty.

The volunteer lifeboat crew, under the command of Coxswain Stuart Adams, were quickly afloat and commenced a shoreline search down to Camber Sands.

Once on scene a search plan was put into place with Rye Harbour RNLI lifeboat, Rescue 163 helicopter and Pett Rescue boat also involved.

Ashore RNLI lifeguards, Rye Bay and Dungeness Coastguard teams searched the beach. After an extensive search all assets were stood down as the swimmer was found safely ashore and reported to RNLI  lifeguards on the beach.

Dungeness lifeboat returned to station and was ready for service by 3pm.
