R N L I Beaumaris lifeboat launched to a report of a person in difficulties.

Lifeboats News Release

At the request of H. M Coastguard the volunteer crew members of the R N L I Beaumaris lifeboat launched the lifeboat at 4.50 pm on Sunday 21 August 2016 to investigate a report of a person in difficulties in the water.

The Beaumaris Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat Annette Mary Liddington  with her volunteer crew immediately proceeded to the location given this being around Bangor Pier and commenced a search of the area.
 
Visibility was very good but despite a thorough search nothing was found.
 
It is now believed that the informant had earlier seen a wind surfer in the area and subsequently mistook a buoy as being a person in the water.
 
The inshore lifeboat arrived back at Beaumaris at 5.18 pm being refuelled and prepared for further service by 6.00 pm.

The charity welcomes people from all walks of life and no previous sea-going experience is needed to join the lifeboat crew. The RNLI provides fantastic training to turn ordinary people into lifesavers. By volunteering with the RNLI people will gain some great experience, knowledge and skills.
 
Beaumaris RNLI are always looking for new volunteers to help run the lifesaving service.  If you are aged 17 or over, physically fit, work or live within 10 minutes of the lifeboat station and eager to join a lifesaving organisation then please come by and say hello.

The volunteers meet every Thursday evenings at 6.00pm for their weekly training exercises.
