Two early morning calls for Ramsgate RNLI

Lifeboats News Release

Both of Ramsgate RNLI’s lifeboats were launched to two separate incidents during the early hours of Sunday, 14 August.

The inshore lifeboat (ILB) launched at 3.52am to two people trapped on the southern breakwater of Port Ramsgate. The ILB crew recovered the people and took them to the lifeboat station where they were handed over to a waiting ambulance crew.

At 5.52am there was another call, this time for the all weather lifeboat (AWB), to a 17m Dutch barge with engine failure, 9 miles south east of Ramsgate with two people on board. On scene the AWB crew passed a line to the barge crew and safely towed the vessel into Ramsgate Harbour..
