Criccieth RNLI launches both Lifeboats during search for motorised paraglider
At 8.30pm on Saturday the 13th of August, 2016 volunteers from Criccieth's RNLI Lifeboat Station launched both Lifeboats following reports of a motorised paraglider crashing into the sea west of Criccieth.
HM Coastguard requested a shoreline search form Criccieth towards Penychain. Both Lifeboats scoured the sea and shoreline with a HM Coastguard helicopter overhead. An onshore search was conducted by Criccieth's HM Coastguard, local police units and a fire brigade team.
Following a search lasting around 40 minutes where nothing was found, all units were stood down. It was decided that the paraglider had probably landed ashore at a nearby campsite; this was later confirmed to be the case.
