Both Eyemouth lifeboats called out to drifting inflatable
Aberdeen Coastguard launched both Eyemouth lifeboats at 5.50pm on Friday 5 August after it was reported that two children were drifting out to sea in an inflatable dingy.
Both individuals were quite content and didn't realise that the lifeboat had been called out for them. Initially reluctant to be taken back ashore, it was explained to them that due to the two metre swell and their current location, that to stay at sea would be unwise.
The occupants and their inflatable were then transferred to the inshore lifeboat and then on to Eyemouth lifeboat.
Both lifeboats then returned to station where the father and daughter were met by Eyemouth Coastguard. Once it was established that there was no further need for assistance, both lifeboats were stood down and were made ready for service again.
