RNLI lifeboats and rescue helicopter tasked to emergency call

The Port Talbot lifeboat was tasked at 1.55am on Thursday (28 April) after HM Coastguard received a 'pan pan'  emergency call reporting a person possibly injured aboard a vessel in Swansea Bay.

Both The Mumbles all-weather lifeboat and Coastguard helicopter, Rescue 187, were also tasked to the search.

A thorough search was carried out across the bay area for approx 90 minutes but nothing was found. There were no further transmissions received from the original source, so it was treated as a possible hoax call.

All the emergency services were then stood down and returned to station.
