Peel lifeboat hold its Annual General Meeting

Lifeboats News Release

Thursday 15th April 2016 saw Peel lifeboat supporters and volunteers attend their annual general meeting.

Chairman Stuart Blackley spoke of a successful year for the branch and thanked everyone for their support.

Allen Corlett, Lifeboat Operations Manager, gave his report after what had been a relatively quiet year for call outs. Allen explained about crew training and general lifeboat repairs with Ruby Clery now being back on station.

Margaret Kelly Branch and Ladies Guild Treasurer explained the accounts.  She explained that running costs for the station had risen by £33,000, mainly due to the expense of new tracks for the station tractor and that the fundraisers had had an excellent year with £37,172 being raised locally - an increase of £5,000 on last years figure.

Malcolm Kelly, Lifeboat Press Officer informed the meeting that the national exhibition “Hope in the Great War” would be opening at The House of Mannanin on the 23rd April with not only a national look at the RNLIs work during the first world war but also the local input.

Paddy Kelly, the retiring Chair of the Ladies Guild, thanked everyone for their help and then handed over to new Chair Jackie O’Halloran, who hoped to carry on the good work of her predecessor.  Paddy received gifts from the crew, guild and local station committee.
