Beaumaris lifeboat launched to vessel broken down vessel near Plas Newydd.

Lifeboats News Release

At the request of H. M Coastguard the volunteer crew members of the R N L I Beaumaris lifeboat were paged at 8.19pm on Wednesday 20 April and the Inshore Lifeboat launched to assist a motor boat with a serious gear box fault.

The RNLI Beaumaris based Atlantic 85 inshore Lifeboat Annette Mary Liddington was launched a 8.30pm and proceeded to search for the motor boat which was reported to have no power and dragging it’s anchor near Plas Newydd on the Menai Strait.
By the time the lifeboat arrived on scene the two members of crew aboard the craft had managed to attach the vessel to a mooring buoy at Pwll Fanog. Having confirmed that the persons on the casualty vessel required no medical assistance the lifeboat towed the boat to the marina at Port Dinorwic.
After ensuring that the crew aboard the motor vessel yacht required no further assistance the lifeboat departed to return to Beaumaris.
The Inshore Lifeboat arrived back at Beaumaris at 9.50pm being refuelled and made ready for further service by 10.10pm

The charity welcomes people from all walks of life and no previous sea-going experience is needed to join the lifeboat crew. The RNLI provides fantastic training to turn ordinary people into lifesavers. By volunteering with the RNLI people will gain some great experience, knowledge and skills.
 
Beaumaris RNLI are always looking for new volunteers to help run the lifesaving service.  If you are aged 17 or over, physically fit, work or live within 10 minutes of the lifeboat station and eager to join a lifesaving organisation then please come by and say hello.
 
During the winter the volunteers meet every Monday and Thursday evenings at 6.00pm for their weekly training exercises.
