Newquay RNLI lifeboat launched to help angling boat taking on water

The 33ft angling boat with eight people on board had damaged a propeller in the collision and was taking on water through the stern gland propeller system, but fortunately her own pump was able to keep pace with the water coming on board and she was escorted back towards Newquay Harbour by the lifeboat crew in light north-westerly winds.
 
As a result of the earlier damage, the boat's steering failed as they passed Towan Head, so the RNLI volunteers took the angling boat in tow and brought her passengers and crew safely into Newquay Harbour at 4.30pm where a commercial crane was waiting to lift her onto the quay for repairs.
