Littlehampton RNLI December Dip

Brave a December dip

Littlehampton RNLI Lifeboat Station will hold its first-ever ‘December Dip’ this year to raise vital funds for the lifesaving work of its volunteer crew.

The event, which will take place on Saturday 10 December, is expected to become a regular festive event for the local community. Participants will be encouraged to raise money for their local lifeboat station by braving a quick sea dip in waters that average a bracing 11°C in December.

Hosted by The Beach café, on Sea Road, Littlehampton, the event will start from 10.30am, with the first participants set to take the plunge from 11.30am.

Each participant can enter for £5 and they will be encouraged to raise sponsorship from friends and family – fancy dress is optional!

After their dip, everyone will receive a hot drink.

For those not participating in the dip, there will be live brass band Christmas music to enjoy as well as an RNLI souvenir stall. Full safety measures will be in place which include RNLI Lifeguards, RNLI Lifeboats and Crew as well as Safety Boats. There will also be an ambulance on site.

This event is open to both adults and children over the age of 12. Younger children are welcome to attend but cannot take part in the dip. All children will need to be accompanied by an adult at all times.

All participants are asked to arrive for sign in at ‘The Beach’ between 10.30 and 11.20 where they will receive their event wristband. This wristband must be worn and scanned before and after the dip.

There is parking nearby on Sea Road, at the Littlehampton Wave Swimming Pool Car Park (BN16 2NA) and at The Wall Car Park (BN17 5PB). ‘The Beach’ café is approximately a 15-minute walk from Littlehampton Train Station.
