Lifeguard 25th anniversary activities

Find out what events are taking place to celebrate RNLI lifeguards this year.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of RNLI lifeguards keeping people and beaches safe, the RNLI is putting on a variety of different events and activities to showcase what lifeguards do and why we should support them.

31 July: International Lifeguard Appreciation Day

On 31 July 2026, join the RNLI and lifeguarding services across the world as we come together to celebrate lifeguards and the work they do to keep us safe. Coastal communities will be coming together to host a range of public events. Keep an eye on our socials for more details. And if you'd like to get involved, share a photo of yourself online wearing red and yellow!

Water Smart sessions

Looking to inspire young people and help them learn how to stay safe in and around the water? The RNLI’s new Water Smart sessions have been designed to share sea safety tips in a fun, friendly manner. Presented by RNLI lifeguards, why not invite the team to host a session at your school, club or event?

Please note: Session has been designed for Upper Primary to Lower Secondary age students.
