The youngsters also learned about sea safety, being safe on the beach, spotting dangers on shore and at sea as well as learning how to raise help.

Section team leader for the cub scouts group Colm Simpson who is also a volunteer crew member and helm at the Ferry Road lifeboat station said 'The group really enjoyed the visit. I was asked lots of questions and I think two or three of the cub scouts have ambitions to volunteer for the charity in the future. But most importantly of all the youngsters have gone home with some knowledge of how to save lives at sea or on the beach.'
