New Brighton RNLI recruiting lifeboat crew!

Volunteering for the RNLI as a crew member on board New Brighton’s Atlantic-85, inshore lifeboat means you will help us save lives at sea by ensuring the lifeboat is in a state of permanent readiness.

As a volunteer, you will carry a RNLI pager and be on call for lifeboat ‘shouts’ – the lifeboat can be tasked by HM Coastguard at any time of day – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Whilst there is no expectation that volunteers are available all the time, New Brighton RNLI are particularly interested in people with good daytime availability.

You will be expected to attend training exercises and contribute to the overall upkeep of the station, lifeboat and equipment, under the guidance of senior figures on station.

This is the first time New Brighton have advertised for lifeboat crew for a couple of years, and interested applicants will have to undertake an extensive, exciting and ongoing training programme, under a competency framework.

Interested applicants must be over the age of 18 and live within reasonable distance of the lifeboat station to respond to emergency call outs. This is generally considered to be working or living within 10 minutes of the station.

New Brighton RNLI was established in 1863 in the bustling seaside resort of New Brighton, on the northeast corner of the Wirral peninsula. They cover the River Mersey and out into the Irish Sea.

The station is home to a B-class Atlantic 85 lifeboat, one of the fastest in the RNLI fleet. The crews at New Brighton have been presented with a remarkable 48 awards for gallantry to date.
