Largs RNLI celebrates shore crew pass outs

Local trainer assessor Angus Fergusson put the pair to work assessing the skills and knowledge needed for this vital role.

Jennifer has been a member of the volunteer inshore lifeboat crew at the station since 2019 and Claire has been a volunteer press officer at the station since 2021, with both taking the step to add this additional role to their specialisms.

Training is a vital part of ensuring the volunteer crew remain ready and able to save lives at sea.

The pass out assessments recognise the hard work of all the volunteers, who come together working well as a team and reaching the high standards the RNLI sets.

Lifeboat Operations Manager, John Griffiths said; ‘Our volunteers train hard all year round, it’s great to see them get the recognition they deserve and to see the crew develop the skills needed to save lives at sea.

‘Both Claire and Jennifer are very dedicated members of the volunteer crew, demonstrating enthusiasm and team work throughout.

‘Congratulations to both.’
