First shout – 10:35am

Lymington Lifeboat launched following reports of a swimmer who had entered the water at Milford-on-Sea and had subsequently got into difficulty.

The swimmer had been taken by the strong tide towards Hurst Castle, prompting the yacht that had spotted the swimmer in difficulty to raise the alarm with the Coastguard.

Thankfully, before the lifeboat arrived on scene, the swimmer had been safely rescued from the water by the passing yacht.

Lymington Lifeboat proceeded to the area, with Solent Rescue also on scene to provide assistance. The swimmer was checked and was handed over into the care of the waiting ambulance.

Second shout – 6:30pm

Later that evening, the lifeboat launched for a second time following a request from Lymington Coastguard to check on a dinghy travelling from Hurst Castle towards Colwell Bay on the Isle of Wight.

On arrival, the lifeboat found that the dinghy had safely reached Colwell Bay. All three people on board were safe and well, and the lifeboat was stood down.
