South West RNLI lifeboat crew respond to fishing vessel in distress
On Saturday 29 August, volunteer RNLI lifeboat crews from Salcombe, Plymouth, Falmouth and Penlee were tasked by the Coastguard to assist in a multi services search for two missing crew members from a French fishing vessel approximately 15 nautical miles south west of the Eddystone Lighthouse.<
Three members of the five-man crew were recovered and transferred ashore for medical checks leaving two still to be located.
After some eleven hours at sea and having conducted multiple search patterns and with the search efforts suspended the all-weather lifeboats were stood down.
Thoughts are with all the families while their loved ones remain missing.
