Fowey RNLI volunteers assist in late night search for missing person
On Friday 23 October Fowey RNLI received a tasking request from Falmouth coastguard following reports of a missing man in Polruan. The man had been missing since around 8pm the same evening.
Fowey volunteer lifeboat crew launched their D class at 11:24pm and set off to assist the coastguard team, police and police helicopter in the search for the missing man. It was decided that Fowey’s Atlantic 85 lifeboat should also assist in the search and it was launched at 11:56pm.
The two lifeboats conducted a shoreline search from Polruan Quay to Fowey harbour entrance, including Readymoney cove, Albert Quay and around Pont Creek, Pont Pill and Brazen Island. Vessels were also searched and land searches were conducted including searching buildings. The lifeboats were stood down at 1:15am after the missing man had been found by the coastguard and police.
