Bridlington RNLI volunteer crew feature in BBC rescue documentary
A dramatic Bridlington RNLI rescue carried out during Storm Amy in 2025 is set to feature in an upcoming episode of the BBC documentary series Saving Lives at Sea, which will be aired on Wednesday 13 October at 8pm on BBC2.
The episode will offer viewers the unique insight into the challenging conditions faced on 3 and 4 October 2025, when volunteers from Bridlington, Scarborough and Humber RNLI lifeboat stations, alongside HM Coastguard and other vessels in the area, took part in a major multi-agency response during one of the most severe storms to affect the region last year.
Battling towering seas, gale-force winds and relentless weather, the crews endured some of the toughest conditions experienced by the Bridlington RNLI volunteers in 2025. The programme highlights the professionalism, courage and dedication of the volunteer lifeboat crews and partner agencies who stand ready to answer calls for help at any hour of the day or night, regardless of the conditions.
The long-running BBC series provides a behind-the-scenes look at RNLI lifesaving operations around the UK and highlights the skill, teamwork and commitment required to rescue those in difficulty at sea.
Bridlington RNLI Volunteer Press Officer, Mike Milner said, ‘We are proud that the dedication and commitment of our volunteer crew will be showcased on Saving Lives at Sea. The programme highlights the realities of lifesaving at sea and the challenges our volunteer crews and partner agencies face when responding in difficult weather conditions. We hope it provides viewers with a greater understanding of the RNLI's vital work and the difference our volunteers make in saving lives.’
The episode will air on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer and will give audiences the opportunity to see Bridlington RNLI's volunteers in action as they continue their mission of saving lives at sea.
