Youghal RNLI involved in multi-agency rescue after car gets into difficulty
Youghal RNLI was involved in a multi-agency rescue this morning (Thursday, 5 November) after a car got into difficulty on the Waterford side of Youghal Bridge.
The volunteer crew were requested to launch their inshore lifeboat at 9.04am. The lifeboat helmed by Jack Nolan and with crew members Liam Keogh and Eddie Hennessy onboard, made its way to the scene. On arrival, the crew observed that a casualty was being treated by paramedics of the National Ambulance Service and Youghal and Ardmore Fire Brigade, who were already on scene. The Gardai and Youghal and Ardmore Coast Guard, also responded.
The casualty was safely transferred onto the lifeboat along with a paramedic and then brought back to Youghal RNLI station where they were then safely transferred into the care of a waiting air ambulance crew and brought to hospital.
Speaking following the call out, John Innes, Youghal RNLI Launch Authority said:
‘We want to wish the casualty a speedy recovery following their accident this morning. We also want to thank and commend our colleagues in the various emergency services who responded. This call out was a great example of teamwork and collaboration with all involved putting their skills and training into practice to bring someone to safety.’
