Persons in difficulty off Tramore Pier after suspected fall off jet ski
Tramore Volunteers Lifeboat Crew were paged at 15.46 in Saturday 30th May to launch their D class Lifeboat.
A member of the public had witnessed a jet ski eject some people into the water near Tramore Pier. In a multi agency call out involving Tramore Coastguard, Ambulance service and Gardai, Tramore Lifeboat launched at 15.52 and within 2mins had located the jet ski and found 3 persons on the rocks, under the cliff at the Doneraile walk.
2 casualties were taken on board to the Pier and the lifeboat returned and transferred the 3rd casualty shortly afterwards.
All casualties were in good health and needed no medical attention at the time. The Marine rescue coordinating centre requested that Tramore Lifeboat would recover the jet ski, as it posed a navigation hazard. The jet ski was towed to the Ladies Slip for recovery assisted by Tramore Coastguards.
Tramore Lifeboat returned to base and was washed down, refulled and ready for service at 16.30.
Clive Smith Lifeboat Operations Manager said: 'Helm, Dave O'Hanlon, Crew members Ward Griffin & Peter Kelly had carried out a textbook extraction in challenging conditions.'
