The volunteer crew were paged and D class inshore lifeboat Sheena was launched and quickly on scene. After discussion with the yachts skipper no immediate assistance was required but the inshore lifeboat crew stood by as the vessel was safely brought into the harbour under sail and subsequently berthed safely within the marina.

With the yacht berthed, the inshore lifeboat was able to return to station and was made ‘ready for service’ with the assistance of the shore crew.

Following the callout Troon RNLI inshore lifeboat helm Stephen Kerr said, ’We would like to extend our thanks to Troon Harbour and Troon Yacht Haven for their assistance in bringing the yacht home safe and we also wish the sailing team well for future events.’
