Both joined Portsmouth RNLI in early 2024 and have worked their way through the station’s training programme with dedication and commitment. Starting as shore crew, they progressed through their Tier 1 training plan before achieving their latest Tier 2 qualification milestone.

Along the way, both Megan and Issy also completed additional operational qualifications, including ToolTrak driving and Head Launcher training, further strengthening the station’s capability both ashore and afloat.

Their Tier 2 assessment involved an intensive three hours afloat aboard Norma T, covering a wide range of operational competencies including anchoring, veering, towing, search and rescue, boat handling, and emergency procedures.

The achievement reflects many months of training, teamwork, and commitment to maintaining the high standards required of RNLI volunteer lifeboat crew.

Portsmouth RNLI Operations Manager, Roy Marsh said: “Passing out as Tier 2 crew is a significant achievement and reflects the hard work, commitment and professionalism Megan and Issy have shown since joining the station. They have embraced every aspect of training, both afloat and ashore, and should be incredibly proud of what they have accomplished.”
