Littlestone RNLI welcome new mascots at fun dog show
On 10 May Littlestone RNLI new mascots were named at their fun dog show.
The dog show was held for the second time this year following a surprisingly popular first event last year. The event was opened by the New Romney Mayor Councillor John Rivers and local celebrity Dominic King of BBC radio Kent (a former volunteer crew member at Littlestone).
Dominic King said 'Well done on a terrific event, the puppy category was my favourite. Thanks for asking me and it was nice to have a coffee and a chat with a few old crew mates. You and the team are doing the station proud and the community who support you'.
Other rounds included golden oldie, most handsome boy, prettiest girl, waggliest tail, dog and handler look-a-like. Full results can be found at https://www.facebook.com/littlestonelifeboatstation.
The dog and handler look-a-like round was won by Littlestone RNLIs very own volunteer crew member Tom Whateley.
Overall the event was a very successful day with sponsorships from local companies, the neighbouring Varne Boat club pitching in cooking burgers, free parking provided by the local council, over £1200 was raised and the lifeboat shop took another £200 on the day.
