Jasmin is being supported by crew colleagues and members of her Lifeboat Running Club

Jasmin, who is the only Scottish crewmember selected to be part of the RNLI team, has been training since late last summer, and every Wednesday evening is joined by other runners of every ability to run together as the Oban Lifeboat Running Club.

“I have been running for a few years and really wanted to run the London marathon for the RNLI,” says Jasmin.

“I was inspired by the success of our crew Mayday Mile challenge last summer.”

Last May, Oban lifeboat crew members ran a mile a day in full kit (minus the wellies) for the RNLI. Due to the kindness of supporters from across the maritime, coastal and island communities we serve – and far further afield – Oban raised the highest amount of any team involved in the challenge.

“My marathon training has generally been going well,” says Jasmin, “but I did need to take a bit of time off late last year with an injury.

“The support I have been getting has been incredible. I am back on plan and really looking forward to next month’s big run.”

Jasmin’s fundraising has been going well, thanks to the generosity of individual donors and businesses.

A second pub quiz will take place on Sunday 12 April at the View in Oban, following the huge success of the first fundraiser quiz in December.
