Whitby RNLI launch all weather lifeboat.
They assisted a crew of two in difficulty aboard their vessel.
On Saturday (21st March 2026) Whitby's all weather lifeboat was launched at 1.40pm.
A cabin cruiser with two people aboard had called for help after their anchor rope became caught in the propeller.
One of the crew sustained a minor injury whilst trying to free the rope.
Whitby RNLI Coxswain Richard Dowson said: 'We would urge anyone who gets into difficulty to call for help sooner than later. Situations can unfold very quickly at sea.
We were pleased to find the two crew aboard this vessel were wearing lifejackets and had a means of calling for help.
We were happy to assist them to safety, providing a tow to the harbour. The conditions and incoming tide meant this was the safest course of action for the crew and their vessel.'
