Eaton Golf Club in Chester raises over £12,000 for RNLI
Eaton Golf Club near Chester has raised over £12,000 for the RNLI through a series of fundraising events.
Each year at Eaton Golf Club, the club’s Captain and Lady Captain select a charity they wish to support during their year of office.
Last year’s Captain, Andrew Ramsey and his wife Sue, chose the RNLI as the charity to support for 2025. Throughout the period they have raised a total of £12,056 for the RNLI.
Andrew, throughout his yearlong Captaincy, organised a series of events to raise funds. This began with a ‘Drive Off’ in January 2025, where a presentation about the RNLI was shared to those attending, alongside a raffle to raise money. Other fundraising events included a dinner, a daylong members’ competition and a professional amateur day. Throughout the year, ‘Betty’s jars’ were used continuously to collect 5p pieces to add to the collection.
Dennis Davis, Chester’s RNLI Fundraising Branch Chair and Treasurer said:
‘For a long time, Eaton Golf Club have been very supportive of the RNLI, with members and staff providing encouragement and support to our lifesaving cause.
‘Not only did the club raise a substantial sum of money, but they had great fun while doing it, enjoying their sport.’
Andrew Ramsey, Eaton Golf Club 2025 Captain said:
‘I have been a member of the RNLI for many years and have friends who would not be in my life if the RNLI had not rescued them.
‘I thoroughly enjoyed my year as Captain and I’m very grateful to all the Eaton members and friends who have raised so much for the RNLI, a charity dedicated to saving lives at sea.’
Dennis added: ‘A huge thank you to all the Eaton Golf Club members for their dedicated support and generous donations. The money they’ve raised will go towards our lifesaving mission.’
