Stuart Taylor hails from Dilwyn near Hereford, he began visiting Borth when his parents had a caravan at the local caravan park Bryn Owen. During his visits he met a lot of the crew and his now wife Claire Lloyd from Borth.

Stu joined the crew in 1997 and didn't let the distance between Hereford and Borth prevent him from training, he travelled to Borth from Hereford to train and be an active crew member for a grand 27 years, almost every weekend.

It became a running joke with the crew, that if Stuart was down, there was a good chance of having a shout - because that’s what inevitably happened. He was like a magnet to a call out.

Stu showed true commitment to the RNLI, both in training, during shouts and in 2023 he even ran the London Marathon for the institution.

Work, family commitments and the newer modern training standards needed to be a crew member, made it difficult for Stu to continue and in 2024 he stood down. He was a loyal member of Borth Lifeboat Station and was always up for a social event, and always willing to lend a hand and support the station and village functions. During his service 1997-2024 the station saved 67 lives
