Drifting objects near Stevenston prompts investigation by Troon lifeboat crew

The volunteer lifeboat crew attended at the lifeboat station where RNLI Shannon class all-weather lifeboat RNLB Roy Barker VI and D class inshore lifeboat Sheena were launched to ascertain what the object was and to establish if anyone could be in difficulty.

After a short passage, both lifeboats arrived on scene locating a small boat adrift. With no person on board and no sign of recent activity, following a search of the immediate area an update was provided to Belfast Coastguard regarding the boat.

To prevent any further callouts the boat was recovered onto the all-weather lifeboat and taken back to Troon harbour to the lifeboat pontoon. Both lifeboats were then made ready for service with the assistance of the shore crew.
