Abersoch RNLI launched to assist a sailing yacht with engine problems.
The volunteer crew were paged by HM Coastguard at 4.04pm Sunday 30th August following a report of a 30ft sailing yacht experiencing mechanical issues half a mile northeast of Abersoch Moorings.
The lifeboat was launched at 4.18pm in a moderate sea state with a south south-westerly wind.
The launch service from South Caernarvonshire Yacht Club (SCYC) had gone to the aid of the casualty vessel, however with worsening conditions they were struggling to make any headway back towards the moorings and requested assistance from the lifeboat.
The lifeboat quickly located the sailing yacht and placed a crew member onboard. After assessing the situation, and due to the deteriorating weather conditions, it was decided on safety grounds to establish a safe tow and take the vessel to one of the SCYC visitor moorings.
The three crew of the casualty vessel were taken ashore by the SCYC launch and the lifeboat returned to the station at 5.23pm where it was washed down, refuelled and left ready for service.
