Medal For Veteran RNLI Fundraiser
Jean Sharp (98) has been recognised by the RNLI for her 40 years of outstanding service to fundraising for the charity at St Agnes Lifeboat Station with the award of a long service medal.
Jean was joined by friends for a celebratory tea where she met Ex-Lifeboat Operations Manager and Chair of St Agnes Parish Council, Paul Kimberly accompanied by St Agnes RNLI Chairman John Gunkle, who presented the award.
Having begun with the Ladies Lifeboat Guild Jean's fundraising efforts have included hosting garden parties and BBQs in her own beautiful garden as well as helping to organise countless Lifeboat Days in Trevaunance Cove.
Paul Kimberely commented, "Jean was a fundraiser the whole time I was on the lifeboat, so when I went to sea, she raised funds for the fuel, equipment and protective gear we needed to undertake rescues. Jean, and the other fundraisers, indirectly saved the lives we did and kept us safe with the equipment and protective clothing we were wearing through their fundraising."
Current Lifeboat Operations Manager for St Agnes Lifeboat, Douglas Stein said,
"On behalf of the volunteer crew and management, past and present, of St Agnes RNLI I wish to extend our congratulations and heartfelt thanks to Jean Sharp for her sterling efforts over the decades. Thank you, Jean."
